5 ELEMENT  10 METER YAGI
This is the final dimentions of a 5 element yagi for 10 meters.  It was designed and built by Jim McDonald (K7QET) and myself while licensed as WB7UUM.  It has been a very successful design.  I have won my division once, section 5 years running with it and have placed second twice. It has been a real performer.   This was not computer modeled and I suppose that the yagi can be improved -- A LOT !!.  To really date this antenna, it was designed with a hand calculator and a Smith Chart.   After it was constructed, Jim and I made contact on 28.400 and rotated the beam to check its theoretical performance characteristics.  Side and back rejection fell into normal parameters of a beam of this particular design. Well, as best as we could tell thru audio reception and the funny little S-meters on our Yaesu 101's.  So, you know how that is.  Sketchy at best, but the real tests was in the strength of the audio and cw signals that changed with beam direction.
According to the truth chart,  (Bill Orr- antenna design handbook) This design will give a TRUE gain of approximately 7-1/2 Decibels.  I think a cb antenna manufacturer would claim 12, but that is of course pie in the sky fiction.
One day, I will get an antenna modeling program that is user friendly and actually model this with it to find what the 'puter says this should do.  But, but now, with this antenna I have a row of 1 st Place contest certificats from the ARRL hanging on the wall
The parts are all aluminum tubing with Stainless steel hardware.   The aluminum was scavenged from 11 meter cb antennas.
